Montessori education according to international standards

Educational goals

Our educational goals at the Montessori EcoSchool are based on Maria Montessori's pedagogy, which is based on the idea that each individual child can develop its individual potential in a well-prepared learning environment and with appropriate learning support. Emotional, social, motor, cognitive and methodological skills are of equal importance to us. The child is respected as a competent individual. From the very beginning, their self-activity is enabled and encouraged. The teachers see themselves as learning companions who create the conditions for the child to develop as optimally as possible.

International standards

Montessori education has experienced very different forms and interpretations worldwide. Even within Germany, Montessori education is implemented very differently. Since "Montessori" is not a protected term, any school can call itself a "Montessori school".

Authentic Montessori education is very important to us. The Montessori EcoSchool is therefore strongly oriented towards the principles of the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) founded by Maria Montessori:

  • In each group there is at least one learning guide with international Montessori training (AMI) and, depending on the size of the group, one supporting learning guide. The use of subject teachers is avoided as far as possible.
  • Each group has a largely complete set of relevant materials for the respective age group at its disposal.
  • Montessori time takes place daily, five times a week. This is an uninterrupted working time of 2 hours in the casita (2-3 years), 3 hours in the casa (3-6 years) and 3 hours in the mornings as well as at least 2 hours on four afternoons in the primary school (6-12 years).
